What kind of life do you want to live? How can you develop it? What approach and formula can we use so we can grow and not suffer? Make meditation the art of life. Make meditation the science of life. Because only with that and with that only, can you develop intuition.

~ Yogi Bhajan

About the 21 Stages of Meditation course

We all come to meditation with our own background and our own state of mind – at different times this might be emotional, out of balance, seeking clarity or peace, or looking for a deeper sense in life. We all bring our own experiences and capacities.

There are many meditation traditions that provide us with pathways and tools to still and refine the meditative mind. With the 21 Stages of Meditation, Kundalini master Yogi Bhajan provided a practical guide to discovering our real self beyond the emotions and commotions of life and to being able to express that true self in an authentic way.

These 21 stages provide a unique path to realizing our pure and elevated consciousness, giving us the tools and experience to deepen our meditation practice and come to a profound understanding of our Self.

The course takes you on three distinct journeys which deepen and refine your experience. Each journey is comprised of seven stages, taking you step by step through the rudimentary skills of meditation, to the deeper levels of awareness and integration, and finally into identity, projection and merger in the infinite pulse of creation.

During our retreat we will travel these three journeys, going through the 21 stages that constitute the complete path. We will go through intensive meditation practice, complemented with asana and breathing practice.

We will follow a yogic lifestyle for the duration of the retreat with vegetarian food, sharing in basic tasks and with time for relaxation and walking in the surroundings.

Who can take the 21 Stages of Meditation retreat?

Students and teachers from all contemplative traditions are invited. There are no prerequisites to this course. It is open to anyone whether new to meditation or with an advanced practice.

Instructors and practitioners of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® are especially encouraged to participate, in order to deepen your understanding of meditation.

For Kundalini yoga teachers, this program will deepen your practice and provide the skills you need to help you identify where your students are at and how to take them further. It is contributes to KRI Level Three Certification within The Aquarian Teacher™ Training Program for those with existing Level 1 certification, and qualifies for RYT hours with Yoga Alliance.

The venue for our meditation course in Nepal

For Tibetan Buddhists, the hills of Pharping where we immerse for our retreat is considered as sacred as Bodhgaya in India, as it is where the second buddha Guru Padmasambhava (“Guru Rinpoche”) attained the state of enlightenment, before going on to establish Buddhism in Tibet.

The monastery, which is our home during the retreat, makes important contributions to the preservation and sharing of the Buddhist teachings, and our stay there helps to fund education for the many young monks from remote areas of Nepal. In return, we are blessed with the opportunity to practice in the temple itself, in a beautiful room above the main hall where the glass walls look out across the valley and mountains.

The lovely guest house often surprises our guests for its wonderful spacious and light rooms, comfortable beds for deep and refreshing sleeps, all with modern attached bathrooms, and built in Tibetan style. It is the perfect place to relax, restore and revive.
